Danny Kaye's The Kid From Brooklyn is a virtual scene-for-scene remake of Harold Lloyd's The Milky Way (1936), with music and Technicolor added to the proceedings. Kaye is cast as timid milkman Burleigh Sullivan, who through a fluke knocks out prizefighting champion Speed McFarlane (Steve Cochran). Sensing a swell publicity angle, McFarlane's manager Gabby Sloan (Walter Abel) promotes Burleigh as the next middleweight champ-and to insure this victory, Gabby fixes several pre-title bouts. Unaware that his fighting prowess is a sham, Burleigh develops a swelled head, which alienates him from everyone he cares about, including his sweetheart Polly Pringle (Virginia Mayo).(AMG)

|
The Simpsons go to the mall, where they see the surviving members of Bonanza making an appearance. During their trip, Bart buys an extravagant belt from the Comic Book Guy. At school, Jimbo beats him up for it and Homer vows to get it back by talking to the bullies' parents at Moe's. They beat the crap out of him, but they never knock him off his feet and Moe, who was a former fighter, sees this and tells Homer that he should become a boxer. Homer agrees, passes the physical, and starts training and while he is a terrible boxer, he can take any punch. He works his way up the rankings by boxing at Moe's. A smarmy promoter visits Moe to talk about having Homer fight Drederick Tatum, a former heavyweight champion who's just been released from prison. Everyone knows that Tatum will kill Homer, but Moe promises it will last at least three rounds. The family is at the fight to watch, as are celebrities and the "Fan Man." Homer barely withstands Tatum's punches, and before the end of round one Moe steals the fan man's fan and flies Homer to safety. Moe gets a big check and flies away with the fan. MICHAEL BUFFER.
